The Cannes Film Festival is here and it's that time of the year again!

Big names like Meryl Streep, the Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth, Eva Green, Heidi Klum, and other A-listers like Aishwarya Rai Bachan,  graced the occasion in style.

The red carpet, every year, during the most renowned film festival has a full display of stars and well-known actors showing up in top-notch couture. But the Gemeria eye caught some of the best hairstyles and decided to decode the drill behind it all!

So what are you waiting for? Grab your combs and your chignons and let’s get styling!

Top 7 Cannes Film Festival Hairstyles 2024

1. Bella Hadid and the Elegant Bun

Being homage to her Palestinian heritage, the supermodel was seen in a stunning black halter-style gown with a sheer bodice, all from the Atelier Versace Spring-Summer 2001 collection along with a matching shawl.

But what caught our eye is the hair.

A sleek back bun with a little drama.

Curls and coils, with a few strands of hair grazing her face, she looked like a goddess.

According to us, we know that human hair extensions were used to put this look together. In our opinion, it was the seventh set clip in hair extensions which are straight that was used to make this flamboyant and pronounced bun.

So here's the whole look:

  • You have first to attach your 7-set clip-in hair extensions before you take a centre partition of your hair, exactly from the tip of your nose.
  • Then you are going to measure two fingers and take out two tiny sections of the hair which will be your fringe that you will curl in the end.
  • Tie it up into a tight little knot so that it does not blend in with the remaining hair at the back.
  • Now you are going to want to tie up the remaining hair into a tight high ponytail. Next, you will call up the ponytail with a curling iron or a barrel iron.
  • Now all you have to do is to use bobby pins, take each lock of your curls and twist and pin them into the ponytail.

Honestly, there is no correct way of doing this. The goal is to have your curls twisted and pinned into a bun. Splash some more hair spray for that added hold and firmness and now you are ready to go.

2. Winnie Harlow And The Wavy Hair Magic

Dressed in black again, the Canadian fashion model and public spokesperson on the skin condition vitiligo was seen flaunting a cowgirl core aesthetic on the red carpet at Cannes.

Her hair was styled in simple frothy waves, tucked and tied into a sleek ponytail along with a fluffy pink Tamara Ralph couture hat to complete the entire look.

Girl you know exactly where to find the best ponytail hair extensions in town!

Gemeria it is!

All you have to do is, take the centre partition of your hair and tie the remaining part of your hair into a low ponytail. For that sleek and neat look, use a bit of hairspray coupled with a dollop of hair gel of your choice and slap it all on. Use a fine tooth comb and put down pesky strands of hair.

As for the pony, give it a little drama by fluffing it up with little waves. And voila! You are red carpet-ready!

3. Demi Moore And The Mermaid Hair Magic

Demi has been in the spotlight on the Cannes red carpet for her horror film – ‘The Substance’. But Moore stole the show with her Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown with a dramatic 3D detail. The champagne ensemble made of satin had a corset bodice and a pronounced 3D wing from the left side of the bust.

But we fell absolutely in love with her waist-length hair and how it was styled.

In our opinion, to achieve this look, a 7-set clip-in hair extension pack is all you need to get this look. For that added sleekness, all you have to do is straighten it down and use a shimmer serum along with some strong-hold hair spray at the top of the head for that neat and sleek appearance. See, this is why Gemeria Hair is your Fairy Hair Godmother.

4. Michelle Yeoh and The New Look

The Hong Kong actress debuted her new chic haircut at the Cannes Film Festival and we are all in love with her new look!

Trading her side-swept hairstyle for a fringe and centre-partitioned hair. Coordinating with her reddish brunette leather bodice, her hair was of the same shade. The strapless and structured gown complimented her body frame and the hair…? Oh, that was SOMETHING!

Our best guess is to put this whole hairdo together with the clip-in bangs and the Caramel Brown Balayage Half Head Wig. Simply clip them on, straighten them and voila, you are red-carpet-ready!

5. Selena Gomez, the Curtain Bangs and the Wavey Ponytail

Going all vintage in style, the Disney star and American actress showed up in all elegance for the premier of her movie Emilia Perez during the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival

A true display of star power, she was dressed in a classy black velvet gown with white bardot sleeves by Saint Laurent. Talk about how minimal does all the magic, our star rocked her star hairdo in a fluffy and wavy ponytail with curtain bangs grazing her beautiful face.

Here’s what we got for you to recreate this look!

One set of clip-in bangs with sides and a ponytail of human hair extensions is all you need. Simply start by clipping on the bangs and giving them a little drama by straightening them, but twirling them inwards. Then use Wrap Around Classic Ponytail Extensions and wrap them around your natural ponytail and give them some styling. Give them waves, but soft ones and now you’re ready to go!

6. Salma Hayek and the Fairytale Hair Magic

We all know that the stars that were present at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival had multiple outfits and hairdos for all the days of the event.

Salma Hayek and her outfits were all fabulous at the event and this made it even more difficult for us to pick out the best of them all. We went with the Lilac-coloured outfit and the shuttle bouffant bun updo. Honestly, we are suckers buns and big exaggerated hairdos. Likewise, Salma Hayek's entire look was nothing short of a fairy tale and it gives us some serious Disney Princess vibes.

For this look, you will need a thick hair topper for that added volume and the bouffant updo.
  • First Things First,  you will have to take a Centre partition and take tiny locks of your hair and clip it right behind your year.
  • Once the fringes are secure you are going to take a circular section of your hair right at the crown region and back comb them to give it a little more volume.
  • This is why the magic begins; you will now use the straight hair topper and clip it exactly at the beginning of the sectioned hair, that is between the fringe area and the crown area.

Now give this a light comb, ensuring that you are not deflating all the volume created beneath the hair topper. You will clip all of this hair back with a few bobby pins or tic tac slides and secure them tightly. Take a few more sections of hair write about the tip of your years and then pin the mall together at the back of your head. Once done, lightly and gently home the remaining of your hair around your neck and splash some of the hair spray to give it a firm hold.

7. Aishwarya Rai Bachan and The Retro Vibes

Representing India in her bold and fierce outfit, Mama Rai, was the centre of attention and all the rave at the Cannes Film Festival. The black and white gown don't with 3D motifs and flowers was a masterpiece by the fashion duo Falguni and Shane. The entire look was a nod to Aishwarya's timelessness and when it comes to the gold detailing,  this was a symbol of her illustrious and note-worthy career journey.

When it comes to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's hair at the film festival she decided to take a break from the typically centre-parted sleek hairstyle And decided to go with something that was retro-inspired or Vintage in nature. The overall hairstyle gave a sense of sophistication and elegance and framed her face perfectly well.

Honestly, we tell you this a little goes a long way.  Similarly, for Aishwarya's hairdo at the film festival, there was not much drama when it came to putting this whole hairstyle together. In our best guess, just to amplify the entire look,  we would suggest that you use the Silk Hair Topper for more volume and also for some more definition in the hair.

All you have to do is clip on the Silk hair topper exactly 2 inches above your hairline right about your forehead.  Now since the Silk hair topper is already Centre partition you will now take equal amounts of hair from the hair extension, twist it with your finger and pin it right at the back of your head. Make sure that the pin is securely placed. Slash some of the Strong Hold hair spray on your head and give it a light comb back to keep it all in place.

Conclusion:

So there you have it as the curtains fall on another beautiful film festival it is pretty evident that this particular event is going to be this year's hair inspo for a lot of hairstyles out there.
